Getting there and parking
- Parking: available in the neighborhoods around Lake of the Isles, which the organizer expects to be congested; it encourages other ways of getting there. The southwest section of Lake of the Isles Parkway will be closed from Dean Parkway to E. Bde Maka Ska Parkway, and Minneapolis may add winter parking restrictions. Accessibility questions and parking passes: events@loppet.org.
- Bus: Metro Transit is providing free bus passes to and from the Luminary; the organizer says more information is coming soon.
- Bike: bike racks near the Luminary Party. Bring your own lock.
- Rideshare: the organizer suggests being dropped off on the east side of the lake, at least a few blocks away, and walking over.
- Drive times: the organizer publishes none, so we list none.
Tips for families
- Kids: ages 3 and under are free; ages 4 to 16 need a $10 youth ticket.
- Leave the dog home: no dogs at the Luminary.
- Skip the flashlight: the organizer’s FAQ asks guests not to bring flashlights or extra lights, so the candlelight glow is the show.
- Bring a card: the organizer says it takes only credit and debit cards for sales.
- Bathrooms: portable toilets near each check-in tent and at the Luminary Party.
- Lost something? Items go to the Trailhead adventure shop by the Monday after the event.
The 2027 event map is listed as coming soon. Dates, prices and times here are the organizer’s and can change; we check weekly and will update this guide.
