Free, citable datasets about Minnesota: venues and Minnesota history, with a CSV, a JSON file and a JSON Schema for each. Every row was read on an organizer, agency or archive page and carries its checked date.
- 6datasets
- 273rows across all datasets
- 3files per dataset: CSV, JSON and JSON Schema
- CC BY 4.0free to reuse with credit
Not confirmed: the events list behind our event pages is not published as a dataset yet, because its count changes as events end. The venues file links venues to the organizer pages their events were read from. Empty cells mean the organizer did not publish that value; we never fill them by guess.

No spreadsheet handy? The data explorer shows any dataset in a table you can search by any word, 25 rows at a time, with a link to the full CSV.
How To Use The Files
Download the CSV for a spreadsheet, or the JSON for code. Open the schema file to see each column’s type and meaning before you load it. Licence: CC BY 4.0. Cite it as: It’s Minnesota (2026). Dataset name. https://itsminnesota.com/data/.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I reuse the Minnesota data?
Yes, under CC BY 4.0 with credit to It’s Minnesota and a link to the dataset page. Each dataset card links the page the data belongs to.
How often is the data updated?
When we re-check a row, its checked date changes and the files update. The counts and dates on this page are read from the live files each time the page loads, not typed.
What is a JSON Schema file?
A description of every column in a dataset (name, type and meaning) for developers and AI assistants. The types are read from the data itself, so a column of numbers is a number and an empty cell is null. Each dataset card links its schema.
Does the data include anything private?
No. Every row comes from a public organizer, agency or archive page that is linked in the row. No private homes or personal details are published.
Where is the machine-readable list?
The catalog.json file lists every dataset with its files, and llms.txt points AI assistants to the same pages.
